Elissa and Pygmalion

The deceased man is the Phoenician King of Tyre joined by his daughter Elissa and his son Pygmalion.¬†On his deathbed the king bequeathed his power to both his son and daughter because of her giftedness and ability to rule Tyre. After the King’s death, Pygmalion was convinced to exclude his sister. He eventually killed her husband causing her to flee into exile with many followers. When she arrived in Africa she built the city of Carthage, which is modern day Tunis.
